Dog Training in Nairobi & Kiambu
From the first sit to a reliable protection dog. We train the dog in front of you and teach you to handle it, so the results last after we leave.

Protection and security K9
Controlled guarding, alerting and handler protection for stable, suitable adult dogs, built on obedience.
Training that fits your dog, your home and your goals
Every dog arrives with a different history. A twelve-week-old Rottweiler puppy, a rescued mixed breed who is scared of visitors, and a two-year-old German Shepherd who guards the gate too hard all need different plans. That is why every G.A.P programme starts with an assessment, not a fixed package.
We look at temperament, energy, health, breed traits and the environment the dog lives in, then agree clear goals with you. Training is practical and built around real life in Nairobi and Kiambu: gates, askaris and visitors, matatu noise, compound walls, cats, and children coming home from school.
Our training programmes
- Puppy training: the foundations that prevent most adult problems: toilet habits, bite inhibition, handling, crate comfort and confident socialisation.
- Obedience training: basic and advanced commands proofed around distractions, so your dog listens in the compound and outside it.
- Behavioural training: for aggression, reactivity, anxiety, fear, excessive barking and other problem behaviour.
- Protection and K9 security training: controlled guard and protection work for suitable dogs, always on top of solid obedience.
How a G.A.P programme runs
- Assess. We meet your dog, watch how it behaves and listen to what you need.
- Train. Structured sessions build the skills step by step, with clear markers and fair, consistent handling.
- Hand over. You learn the commands and the handling, and practise until you are confident.
- Follow up. We check in, adjust and help you keep the results.
Why owners choose G.A.P
We have spent 8 years working with dogs in Nairobi and Kiambu, from family pets to working breeds. Training is led by David Karanja, who has more than 8 years of experience in behavioural training and a deep, all-round knowledge of dogs. We care about dogs that are calm, safe and reliable, and owners who understand their dog. Training should make life with your dog easier, safer and more enjoyable.

FAQ
Dog training: your questions
How much does dog training cost in Nairobi?
Pricing is on request via WhatsApp. It depends on the programme, your dog's age and the problem we are solving, so we quote after a short assessment. Send us a WhatsApp message with your dog's breed, age and what you want to change and we will tell you the options.
At what age can my dog start training?
Puppies can start gentle foundation training at around 8 weeks, as soon as they come home. Adult and older dogs can learn too; it is never too late to improve behaviour.
Do you train all breeds?
Yes. We work with all breeds and mixed breeds, from small companion dogs to large working breeds like German Shepherds, Rottweilers and Dobermans.
Will my dog listen to me, or only to the trainer?
Handing over to you is part of every programme. We show you exactly what to say and do, practise it with you, and follow up so the dog responds to the family, not just to us.
Which areas do you cover?
We work with dog owners across Nairobi and Kiambu County. Tell us where you are on WhatsApp and we will agree the best arrangement for your dog.

Other ways we can help
Puppy training
The first months shape the dog you will live with for the next ten years or more. We help you raise a puppy that is confident, calm and easy to live with.
Obedience training
A dog that comes when called, walks without pulling and stays where you put it. Obedience is the foundation for a safe, relaxed life together.
Behavioural training
Aggression, reactivity, fear and anxiety are stressful for the dog and the family. We find out why the behaviour happens and change it with a clear, safe plan.
Protection K9 training
A protection dog must be a deterrent to threats and safe with family. We build controlled protection on top of rock-solid obedience, never the other way round.
