Puppy Training

The first months shape the dog you will live with for the next ten years or more. We help you raise a puppy that is confident, calm and easy to live with.

Start early, keep it simple

Puppies learn fastest in their first months. What they experience now, good or bad, shapes how they react to people, other dogs and new places as adults. Most of the problems we see in adult dogs (fear of visitors, pulling, biting, guarding food) are far easier to prevent than to fix later.

Our puppy training gives you a clear routine and a handful of skills that make everything else easier.

What we cover

  • Routine and toilet training: feeding, sleeping, play and toilet times that set your puppy up to succeed.
  • Crate and alone time: so your puppy can settle calmly when you leave the house.
  • Handling: being touched, groomed, examined by a vet and having nails trimmed without a fight.
  • Bite inhibition: soft mouths and calm play.
  • Socialisation: people of different ages, sounds like traffic and rain on iron sheets, different surfaces, and polite meetings with safe adult dogs.
  • First commands: name response, sit, down, come, leave it and walking on a loose lead.

Big-breed puppies

German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Doberman, Boerboel and Malinois puppies grow into powerful adults. Early structure matters even more for these breeds. If you want a future guard or protection dog, the right puppy foundation makes later protection K9 training safer and more reliable.

FAQ

Puppy training: your questions

When should I start training my puppy?

Start the day your puppy comes home, usually at around 8 weeks. Early lessons are short and play-based. The most important socialisation window closes at roughly 12 to 16 weeks, so do not wait for the puppy to "grow up first".

Is it safe to train my puppy before all its vaccinations?

Yes, with care. Training at home and in clean, controlled places is safe. Avoid areas where unknown dogs gather until your vet says your puppy's vaccinations are complete, and follow your vet's schedule, including rabies.

How do I stop my puppy from biting?

Puppies explore with their mouths. Stop play when teeth touch skin too hard, redirect onto a toy, give enough rest (overtired puppies bite more), and never encourage hand-wrestling. We show you the exact steps in the first session.

Can you help me choose a puppy?

Yes. Choosing the right breed and a healthy, well-bred puppy prevents many problems. Message us before you buy and we can talk through breed, temperament and what to look for.
